There are five schools within the Blackbourne Team: four Church of England Primary Schools in Bardwell, Barnham, Honington and Ixworth; and one Secondary School in Ixworth. We are active in all the schools in our parishes in a number of ways.
Clergy take Collective Worship in each of our Primary Schools on a weekly or fortnightly basis and in our Secondary School bi-termly. All of our schools use their parish churches for educational visits and special services, eg Harvest Festivals and Carol Services. Barnham Primary holds their annual School Eucharist in St Gregory's Church.
Children take part in parish services too: Barnham Primary joined us for our Ash Wednesday Service this year and Ixworth Primary joined us for the World Day of Prayer Service too.
Teams from Bardwell, Barnham and Ixworth churches go into their local primary schools to lead 'Open the Book' Collective
Worship fortnightly. This involves acting out a Bible story, unpacking it and encouraging the children to reflect on it for
themselves and leading prayer. The children love it! It's fun for them and for the adults!
Many of our parishioners take our commitment to our schools very seriously, serving as School Governors.
